Christmas always gives us an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the things we hold most precious in life. I have at times, as we probably all do, missed this opportunity in a wild frenzy of holiday “chores” like baking, decorating, and of course, shopping. Fortunately, my creativity always offers me a second chance at taking time to observe my physical/mental activity and their potential outcomes. Art-making is so much more than productivity for me, it is a contemplative reflection, much like prayer and meditation; a healing moment of pure comfort and joy. As you approach the holidays with loved ones, I encourage you to make room for stillness, for a singular reflection. Perhaps the greatest gift we can share with others this time of year is an inner peace amidst the “holiday madness” that would distract us from the true meaning of Christmas. Have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year friends!
